A Search for the "Candyman"

On 8 Mar 12, Heather, Tiffany, Kyleigh, and I decided to go find a letterbox that Heather and I had yet had a chance to find. The box we were looking for was named "The Candyman" and it was located in a cemetery in the town of Acworth, Georgia. Tiffany so gracious offered to drive us to the location since her and Andrew had already located the box. However, Heather and I made sure she did not give us any clues as to the location of the box in the graveyard. Once arriving at the parking lot described in the clues, we made our way down the side walk to the gate that allowed us access to the old, dated, and no longer used cemetery. This cemetery had the mystique of a Halloween night search, no lights to be seen other than the occasional car passing by. The old trees that adorn the headstone were moss draped and most headstones weathered and virtually unreadable by flashlight. Although not very large by size the darkness made it a challenging find. It took us searching virtually all the headstones before finding the name that the clues instructed us to find. Once locating that headstone the box was easy to locate. We agreed to let Kyleigh remove the rock and pick up the box like she actually found the box, she loves that as much as we love her. Once she picked up the box, she opened it, and found the stamp for Tiffany and I to stamp the logbooks. After, making our entries we packed up the stamps and logbooks and re hid the box for the next adventures to find. We all made our way back to Tiffany's truck and made our way home to relax before the next days work. It was definitely a proper name for the the box as the Candyman, since this evenings search was a sweet as any that Heather and I had done before!!!

A HUNT FOR A PIRATES TREASURE AND A FEW NESTING BOXES

Today, 6 Mar 12, Heather, Ariel (our youngest daughter), and I headed out on Heather and I evening ritual of a walk that includes hunting for a couple of letter boxes. The first box named "YAARG!" was located at a park named "Overlook Park" in Acworth, Georgia. This park overlooks a lake not far from home named Lake Altoona. This ride to the park took about 15 minutes, as we arrived a lady in a car pulled in to the parking lot next to what appeared to be where the buried treasure would be located. After waiting for the coast to clear in hopes not to have to walk the plank, we located "YAARG!", stamped the logbooks and re hid the box before anyone else pulled into the parking lot. This was a tricky box to find and locate without being seen. Once we got back to the car we believed we could make a attempt at another series of boxes located not to far from where we where currently at. We drove to another park called Swift Cantrell Park to locate the boxes named "Nesting." These boxes are also hidden in a very busy park in which the boxes are right off the trail. Another patient box hunt in deed. This was also a very nice park but not quite as relaxing as the previous ones we have walked in the past. However, the box series is very well done  and enjoyable to find. After locating the series, darkness has once again fallen upon us and we decided to made our way back to the car and then home. Another successful evening of letter boxing which to our pleasure we got to spend with our daughter Ariel. I Love both of you very much. Thanks for spending your evening with me!!!!!

HEATHER'S REVENGE!!!!!!

On 5 Mar 12, Heather and I set out for our evening stroll and letter box hunt, some how she agreed to head back to the location of the snake encounter in an earlier letter box adventure. So in sheer excitement we headed back to the location that was home to the box named "Critter's: Funky Fresh Frog." The location was a park named Logan Farm Park which is home to a pond and a sport's playing field. Heather insisted we go to Funky Fresh Frog first since the sunlight was still abundant, so we paid close attention to look for snakes on our side walk trail to the box. As we made our way down the trail to reach the clue's stopping point Heather started getting a little uneasy as we had to leave the path to find the hiding location of the box. Although skeptic she left the path and followed the clues, although shortly into the search she had to go back to the path as the not so distant memory creeped back into her head. It only took a short while to locate the box, we moved to a wooden railing on the path, stamped the logbooks and re hid Funky Fresh Frog. The next box was also located at the park but on a different trail that neither Heather nor I knew existed. So we made our way back through the parking lot and made our way around the sport's playing field as the clue's took us. This was a awesome and calming walk as the trail was moss lined on the edge of the trail among numerous tall pine trees. The walk was about .7 tenths of a mile which lead to a fork in the path, at the fork was a playground to the left and a wooden bridge across a creek to the right. Heather and I made our way across the bridge as the clues directed us, at the end of the bridge we had to get off the path to locate the box named "Rock Box: As My Guitar Gently Weeps." It took only a couple of minutes to locate the box , stamp the log books and re hide the box. As we started our relatively short walk back to the car the sun started to go down which made the walk back even more relaxing and enjoyable. This was a really nice outing to end our evening and catch up on the days events. This is definitely a recommendation by Heather and I as this was a really nice trail. Thanks for another memorable evening Heather!

"Another Day in.......Wonderland"

On 4 March 2012, Heather and I set out for our evening exercise which happened to entail going letter boxing. We wanted to go find the rest of the Wonderland series which had been eating at us since our first attempt. Heather and I jumped into the car car and made our 20 minute drive to the Iron Hill Trail located at Red Top Mountain in Bartow County Georgia. When we arrived at the parking lot there were quite a few cars in the parking lot so we were definitely not alone in our hunt for the boxes, stealth would definitely be a key. As we made our way down the trail the temperature was just right for a walk, roughly about 54 degrees. However, the wind was blowing pretty good which attracted Heather and I to a little warmer attire. We had already found the first box in the series on an earlier attempt but had come up empty handed on the other two boxes. The walk out to the second box in the series took about 30 minutes, we were looking for the Mad Hatter. Once we arrived at what we presumed to be the right location it took us about 5 minutes to locate the Mad Hatter having Tea. Heather and I took a minute to gloat on the find since the person before could not locate The Mad Hatter. Once we stamped our book and replaced the Mad Hatter we made our way back to the main trail to find The Cheshire Cat. The journey from the Mad
Hatter to the Cheshire Cat took about another 20 minutes or so but because the weather was so nice it did not even seem to take that long. The walk was so peaceful and the wildlife seem to be out an about through the last leg of our journey. As the clue would take us we made it to the second bridge on our way to the car and found the Cheshire Cat just where he was suppose to be. We took a minute to enjoy the peace and quite as we stamped their logbook as well as ours then we returned the cat to its proper spot. It was only about another 10 minutes are so to the car from that point so Heather and I elected to go back to the site of the White Rabbit to ensure he was still there and to enter the stamp on the same page to keep the series together in our book. Once done we made our way back to the car and set out to find a box named "Snake Bit! Copperhead." This box was also located at Red Top Mountain on a trail named "Whitetail Trail." This trail or hike is only a half a mile out and a half a mile back, a short journey to end the day. Nevertheless, we made our way down the trail in search of Copperhead, as we arrived the box location we could not help but take numerous photo as the sites were gorgeous from the vantage point. We dug around in search of the venomous snake but to no avail he had took residence in other than his hiding spot. Heather and I search all over the rock formations but never found the copperhead. However, the walk gave us some very nice photos so it was not a waste at all. After taking more photos we made our track back to the car to end our day. Another day spent with my loving wife and more cherish memories I will never forget. Thanks Heather and I Love You!!

"HEATHER'S DONE......"

On Wednesday, 29 Feb 12, Heather and I set out for a short letter boxing adventure in little downtown Acworth, Georgia where we live. We set out to find 2 letterboxes located at the same park named Logan Farm Park. When we drove up at the park, the sun was already making it descent behind the trees so it was starting to get dark. Heather and I got out of the car to make the quick finds. As we followed the clues, it took us around a small pond located just to the right of Heather in the picture. After making a whole .01 of a mile on the hike to the first box, Heather identifies our friend located in the picture out in front of us. She immediately says I am not going any further!! As I walked pass the snake it almost appeared to be dead as its tongue was not even flickering out of its mouth. I told Heather to stay where she was and I would find out if it was dead or not. I found a rock to throw next to it to see if it would move and when the rock landed it must of hit its tail because it came about 6" off the ground to attack that rock. Heather immediately turned and ran in the opposite direction screaming "I AM NEVER LETTER BOXING AGAIN." I not sure I ever laughed so hard in my life at the shear terror that Heather felt at that moment. That freaked her out so bad that we physically had to leave the park and end our letter boxing adventure for the night. We drove to a little pizza place had dinner and called it a night, the whole time Heather thought things were crawling on her. I Love her to death, she is so funny....... By the way we set out to find a box named CRITTERS: Funky Fresh Frog and ROCK BOX: While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

"OUR LOCAL LIBRARY TOUR"

On Thursday, 1 Mar 12, Heather and I decided to start the month off right and get out after work and go get a little exercise. So we decided to make our way to a couple of libraries located nearby our house, in which I had never been to might I add. The first box brought us to the Rose Creek Library located in Woodstock, Georgia, to a box named "Love 2 Read." After following the clues after getting out of the car it took us roughly 5 minutes to actually located the box. After logging in our fine we replaced the box and headed back to the car to make and attempt at the second box even though the sun was going down rapidly. The drive from the first to the second box was only
about 10 minutes until we arrived the Woodstock Public Library. As we pulled into the library parking lot we noticed they where voters pulling in to cast their ballots for a local election going on. Immediately we knew we were going to have to be discreet in locating the box and pulling it from its resting place. Thankfully the cover of darkness was upon us and it did shield us somewhat from the people going in and out of the parking lot. In our attempt to find the box my flashlight on my phone finally became handy as the box was located under a bridge. Nevertheless, Heather and I located the box, stamped their log book and our, replaced the box and headed back to the car. The box name was "Leaping Lizard."  All in all it was another special evening with my amazing wife as she always seems to do whatever makes me happy, whether she wants to or not. I Love You Heather!!!!
